We set of with Sue driving the first 130 km today before I took over for the rest of the 290 km drive to Port Hedland. We found a site for the night at the Discovery Parks caravan park at Cooke Point. After a quick look around town we then drove to the port are to enquire about tours and as there was one leaving shortly after we got there we signed up for the tour. The next two hours were spent on a very interesting boat tour around Port Hedland berths along side the large ore carriers that make up the bulk of the marine traffic in this port. The tour was run by the Port Hedland Seafarers Centre who are one of the more than 300 Missions to Seafarers centres worldwide. Then it was back to the caravan park from where we set out on foot for a quick walk to the nearby beach - the tide was well out but it was still a pretty little beach are. Then back to the caravan park for a swim in the park's swimming pool.
