We set off relatively early today for the 400 km drive to Broome. I drove most of the way as usual with Sue doing some 70 km in the middle somewhere. Our journey was broken only for a brief stop at a roadhouse for what was a very ordinary cup of coffee sadly. On arrival in Broome we went to Cable Beach Caravan Park and booked ourselves a site before heading out again to explore the town. Our focus was on the Chinese Quarter and the Museum nearby. We learned a great deal about the fascinating history of this place including the town's pearling history and the bombing raid by Japanese planes during World War II that destroyed all the aircraft based there as well as killing over 80 people. A sobering experience. Following this we returned to the Caravan Park briefly before setting out once again (by bus this time) to Chinatown and the open-air cinema where we watched the movie "Dunkirk". After the movie we caught a taxi back to the van park.
