We both slept well last night despite the heat. Setting off at 9.45 a.m. Sue drove the first 100 km up to the turn-off to what we called the short-cut road but which is in fact known as Burkett Road. This road avoids the need to travel via Miniya to reach Coral Bay by cutting across east to west and joining the Miniya - Exmouth Road. Burkett road was sealed and in better condition it seemed to us than the section of Miniya - Exmouth road we travelled on. We arrived at Bayview caravan park at around noon and secured a great spot on a large site away from the hordes of children and also close to the facilities block, After setting up we set off on a walk to explore the area. Firstly we had a coffee at the nearby bakery before checking out what tours are available and surveying the local supermarket. Then it was across the road to the beach to observe a few people snorkeling before going in for a swim ourselves. The swim followed a period of time spent watching a large group attending a fish feeding exercise with large snapper swimming around people's feet in the shallow waters. Later that day we went across the road from the caravan park to Bill's Bar for a bite to eat where I indulged in a tasty steak sandwich. Sue had a glass of bubbly on an empty stomach which didn't sit well later and affected her sleep or so she tells me. Having not won anything in the raffle at Bill's Bar we went home for an evening spent in.
