Day 2 - Sea Lake, Victoria to Barmera, South Australia - Monday 31st July 2017

Another predominantly driving day today. We left Sea Lake at around 10.30 a.m. having enjoyed a hot shower in the old but clean facilities block. En route we stopped at Ouyen for a coffee and a vanilla slice. Ouyen reputedly has the nation's best vanilla slices so we felt obliged to see if  this was true. My verdict was that it was on a par with any I've eaten elsewhere so maybe? Next stop was Mildura where we stopped to do a bit of grocery shopping including (foolishly as it turns out) some oranges and salad vegetables. Once we reached the South Australian border we found that we had to forfeit said fruit and vegetables as a result of the strict fruit fly protocols in place at the border. I'd assumed that the warning signs on the approach to Mildura stating that one shouldn't bring fruit there would have had equal effect further down the track - turns out fruit bought in Mildura is subject to the same restrictions as from elsewhere. A late lunch was then had just outside Mildura before driving on to Barmera and arriving at the sportsground around 5.30 p.m. Dinner was a roast chicken from Woolworths followed by a night of television.
